Fernandez-Villar reduced Ailanthus pongeiion Blanco to' Ailan-

|Tayabas and Camarines, Ï proposed the species AMa/ntJms philip-
Merr., of which For. Bur. 2719 Borden is the type. To
this species Î reduced Ailanthus pongeiion Blanco, non Gmel.,
hpt I am now convinced that this was an error. Blanco’s de-
sériptipn is very imperfect, but his stateifient “Samaras may lar-
gâs” applies to the form I propose to. call Ailanthus blaneoi,

A species well characterized by its large, prominently reticu-
late samaras, its pubescent petals, glabrous filaments, and stel-
lately spreading styles or styie-arms. It is entirely different,
from Ailanthus philippinensis Merr. in vegetative characters,
flowers, and fruits.
