On hill, steem NW slope of >30 degrees, well-drained loamy soil of quartzite.
Full sun. Fynbos with 10 other restio species, Protea cynaroides, Cyperaceae and
Leucospermum spp.
Perennial dwarf shrub, 20-40 cm high. Small bush with slender grey stems.
Grows in rocky areas between outcrops. Old stems brown, young stems grey.
Leaf scars prominent Roots 10-12 mm, reddish brown, tough. Appears to
generate from bigger stock after fire. Leaves opposite deep green, elliptical, 7x5
mm. Flowers yellow to red, 5 mm 4-12 oposite. Common, native.
