These specimens were collected as part of Ms.Castilhos PhD dissertation,
which is being done under my supervision. It aims to analyse, from the
pharmacological/phytochemical point of view, several plant specimens used
as traditional medicines by the "caboclos" of Para State (Brazil). Since I
am currently working at the New York Botanical Garden, under the auspices
of a Fulbright grant, I am taking the opportunity to obtain precise
determinations of the relevant specimens. Preliminary determinations were
obtained from Cristina Amorozo (at that time affiliated with the Goeldi
Mtiseum), who first collected the specimens as part of a survey of medicinal
plants in Barcarena (Para).
I apologize for the quality of the collections and hope that^hey are
workable. I assume part of the responsibility for not having set aside the
necessary time to supervise her collections, done right before my departure
to the USA.
As a specialist on the enclosed group/s, your help In determining these
collections or in confirming/not confirming the preliminary determinations
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your decisions.
