Herbaceous, 20-25 basal leaves, up to 1.5 m in length, spiny
margins, spines dark and claw-like. Inflorescence in panicle of
about 50 cm in length. Flowers pinkish, about 3 cm long.
Whole inflorescence covered by whitish-starchy tomentum
Vernacular name: piñón de maya
Uses: infusion of leaves to treat colds and for itchy feet
