Moist semi-deciduous forest with many lianas. Humus of topsoil up to 20cm deep. Avg.of 1500mm/y rain. Tree with conspicuously lobed leaves, 15m tall. Crooked round bole. Bark gray, spongy, thick, smooth; prominent eyemarks. Slash creamy-yellow; strong, appetizing smell. Palmately trifoliate leaves, usually 3-7-1obed. Margin crenate.
