Location
United States of America. Illinois. Lake Co. 5 miles N of Barrington. The former Julian A. Steyermark property on hilly Valparaiso moraine. From 1941-1948 a large number of herbs, shrubs and trees, many from Missouri, were introduced by J. A. Steyermark; essentially untended since 1958 but many still persisting (Neviusia alabamensis, Cornus florida, Asimina triloba, etc.).

Habitat
Damp depression around "sinkhole" pond. The original forest of Quercus alba, Q. rubra, Q. macrocarpa, Q. ellipsoidalis, Tilia americana, Acer saccharum, Prunus serotina, Ulmus rubra, Carya ovata.

Description
Healthy colony of many stems up to 5 m. tall, 4 cm. diam., apparently all female; stigmas light red. Introduced by J. Steyermark. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
