THE NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN Plants of Ghana No. 94 MELIACEAE Lovoa trichiloides GHANA. Ashanti: Sekyere. Bobiri Forest Reserve. 6°38’N, 10175W. Moist semi-deciduous forest with many lianas. Humus of topsoil up to 20cm deep. Avg.of 1500mm/y rain. Large tree; evergreen crown, 46m tall. Cylindrical, straight bole. Short, thick buttresses. Bark fibrous, smooth; flakes when old. Slash crimson or reddish-purple; sweet smell. Pinnate leaves. Leaflets up to 6 pairs, subopposite, elliptic, apex acuminate to acute. Glabrous. S.
