I have before me a letter from Capt* B* C*
Marshall, Forestry Officer, Trinidad, B* W* X,, in which
he writes as f oljowti*
"You probably remember the so called KhaYa
senegalensis in fee Botanic Gardens here in Port of Spain and
will doubtless be interested to hear that Mr* Williams have
just informed me that Kew have determined it to be Khaya
above is very interesting, but I am
still hot wholl^ satisfied for the reason that the parts of
the flowers of the Trinidad specimen were not the same number
as that; given for the generic group. I am wondering also
whethe# this is a newly described species; judging from the
specific name it must be an east African species*
J shall be glad to hear from you and to
receive a letter of introduction to Father Mills in Guaya-
quil who you thought could be of considerable assistance
to me in location particular species in which I am inter-
ested*
