Moist semi-deciduous forest with many lianas. Humus of topsoil up to 20cm deep. Avg.of 1500mm/y rain. Large tree, 45m tall. Straight, round bole. Brittle, rough, gray-brown bark; scales fall off leaving small pits. Slash dark brown or pinkish-orange. Pinnate leaves. Leaflets oblong to elliptic, opposite, 5-9 pairs, apex obtuse, margin crenate.
