standing on very thick,irregularly
shaped stiltroots, the highest one
emerging from the bole at 1.20 m.above
the ground, and reaching the ground

Outerbark, somewhat rough, grey-brown.
Slash with strong turpetine smell,a
bit of almost colourless watery exu-
date from the cambial zone* Already
lowly branched and with densely
foliaged long crown.Leaves irapari-
pinnate, up to 11 folialate.Leaflets
leathery, dark green above, only
slightly paler green beneath.Flowers
pale greenish-yelfcow.Petals 3 or 4.
Stamens 6 (7)* The small ovary surroun
ded by a thick fleshy yellowish disc
with nectar drips. Flowers much visi-
ted by insects.
