Réserve National Intégral Betampona. 1-2 km on trail N of Reserve base. 17°55'S3" S, 49°12'12"E 325-375 m. Forest on steep terrain exposed to supra-annual cyclones, high density of lianas and poles, open canopy with emergents to 30 m tall. Tree 12 m x 23 cm diam, no buttresses. Outer bark gray, lenticellate, with hoop marks, rough, shed in spongy irregular plates, relatively thick; inner bark light orange. Pseudostipules ca. 7 mm long, orbicular. Buds. Inflorescence axes and bracts and calyx ferrugineous, corolla and stamens cream, disk and pistillode yellow. Rare. On steep slope. 2 Feb 2006 D. C. Daly, R. Ranaivojaona, R. B.
