Dense forest with canopy ca. 15 m high, on steep wet slopes.
Tree 35 m x 75 cm diam, with branched plank buttresses 3 m
high and extending 2.5 m from base. Outer bark gray,
scalloped, with some hoop maj^js and sparse raised lenticels,
shed in thin, irregular plates. Inner bark reddish tan.
Fruiting branchlets inaccessible, so fruits gathered from near
base of tree. Fruits globose to slightly oblong, gray, sparsely
lenticellate, 3-3.4 cm long. Rare.
