Forest on steep terrain exposed to supra-annual cyclones,
high density of lianas and poles, open canopy with
emergents to 30 m tall.
Tree 20 m x 60 cm, with thick branching plank buttresses 1.5
m high and extending 3 m from trunk; outer bark gray, thin,
densely lenticellate, scalloped, shed in large thin irregular
plates. Inner bark light orange, somewhat fibrous.
Pseudostipules substipitate and orbicular, ca. 5 mm long.
Leaflets pale green below, dark green above.
