bare windblown dune sands, graved, scree
fields, and rock outcrops of deeompiosing
"granite1,’ with bare soil steppe- and "desert"
vegetation of Oxytropis (coeruleus?),
Festuca, Carex monosperma, Phlojodicarpus
popovii, Alyssum obovatum, Chamaerhodos
grandiflora, Ephedra, Scrophularia incisa,
Thymus serpyllum, Orostachys spinosa,
Folygonatum officinale, Rhaponticum mtiflotugu
b) Open, sandy Pinus sylvestris forest on
top ®:f dune and scree slopes, with dense
Rhododendron dahuricum, Alnus fruticosa,
Ibdttum martagon, Cotoneaster lucidus,
Linnaea borealis, Sorbus sibiricus under-
story, 10-15 m above Lake Baikal at
"Academic Bay."
