red streaks; calyx in but w/ apical tooth
on carinal side? corolla standard widely
gaping/ the 2 halves forming an angle of
45°-60°? stamens exposed and all in 1
plane across mouth of corolla? standard
deep red (B&K Red 5/5)/ shading to lighter
red at base? wings saccate at apexr very
pale red; keel petals separate/ ivory w/
red at apex. Source: seeds rec'd from
Centro de Investigación Forestal/ Havana/
Cuba? collection locality not indicated/
but probably at or near type locality of
the species: Rio San Juan/ Las Villas/
Cuba. The distinctive floral features
place this species into a monotypic sect.
