Subwoody vine with slender, glabrous branches. Leaves even-pinnate, alterr
leaflets nearly sessile, mostly 20-30, about 12 mm. long, oblong, slightly emargir
Flowers small, red or white, in terminal or axillary, racemose clusters. Pods seve
seeded, seeds handsome, bright red with the base black.
Frequent in thickets (9751, 10202). Seeds used for necklaces, brace!
and other ornaments. English name, black-eyed Susan; native name, port
mataila.
