Open grassland vegetation, frequently burnt, on
sandy soil, along roadsides.
Alt. c. 800 m
Shrub c. 2 m tall, the bark greenish with thin golden
peeling; twigs slender, pendulous, pale whitish
green. Leaflets (3), deep sage green above, slightly
paler beneath with pink veins, softly pubescent on
both sides. Inflorescences long, dense, pendulous
and upwards arching. Flowers numerous, lemon
yellow, fading to ginger brown, c. 12 mm tall;
calyx darker at base, with 5 spreading (star-shaped)
teeth; standard erect, with some blackish rays
towards the base; wings held above the keel, both
bright yellow; the standard 7 mm long, 5.5 mm
broad; wings 6 mm long; keel 7 mm long, greenish.
Pods small, broad and falcate, silvery hairy, unripe.
VERNACULAR NAME: “Ambatry”.
