GABON, OGOOUE-LOLO, c.30 km ENE of Lastoursville,
Bambidie forestry camp. Recently created nursery area with
some left over forest trees.
0°44.33' S, 12°58.37 E Alt: 280m
Tree, c. 21 m high, dbh c. 55 cm, base with narrow buttresses
up to c. 1.5 m height. Bark pale grey, somewhat fissured.
Leaves thin leathery, upper side somewhat glossy, medium
green, lower side dull, palish green with a greenish yellow
midrib.
Flowers fragrant. Calyx creamy white, opening into a single
emarginated element. Petals white, adaxial petal with an egg-
yolk yellow central spot. Filaments white, anthers yellow.
Ovary dark greenish brown. Style pale green, white to apex.
Old pods on floor under tree.
Associated materials: leaf for DNA; Spirit collection [flowers,
bud & leaves].
