Open woodland 10-15 m tall; on red sandy
soil, with Euphorbias, Acacia, Gagnebina.

Open deciduous tree with thick branchlets.
Bark grey, pustular, with leaf scars, wood
red. Leaves with 9-11 leaflets; rachis red;
leaflets mid-green, glaucous beneath, with
prominent veining beneath. Panicles
terminal, sometimes branched. Rowers pale
yellow, fading to orange-red, 9 mm in
diameter. Calyx cupular c. 5 mm long,
green. Petals 4, c. 4 mm long, pale yellow,
with yellow appendages, fading red.
Stamens 8, pale green; filaments hairy;
anthers pale brown. Ovary white hairy.
