  • Description

    Scandent and sprawling; stem 1 inch thick, terete, somewhat flexible, covered with greyish bark here and there bearing a short thick spine; branches long, the free portions drooping, dark green, spinescent; leaves decompound, alternatingly scattered, a trifle descending, more or less recurved, varying from 2 to 5 feet long; leaflets coriaceous, shining on both sides, recurved. especially the apex, deeper green on the upper shallowly conduplicate surface; the rachis and rachilla with recurved hooks beneath; inflourescence erect, from the leaf axils, 6 to 12 inches long, sparingly branched, the stalks yellowish green; calyx brownish green, petals light yellow; stamens and pistils greenish; flowers deciduous and odorless.
