THE NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN Plants of Ghana No. 53 MIMOSACEAE Calpocalvx brevibracteatus GHANA. Ashanti: Sekyere. Bobiri Forest Reserve. 6°38’N, 1°17’W. Moist semi-deciduous forest with many lianas. Humus of topsoil up to 20cm deep. Avg.of 1500mm/y rain. Tree with small crown, 25m tall. Crooked, round bole. Orange, very hard wood. Bark brittle, smooth, gray, easily separates from wood. Slash red, or orange-brown. Bipinnate leaves; leaflets opposite, 4-7 pairs, apex attenuate. Tiny, brown hairs, dense on rachis. S.
