  • Description

    Low shrub 6 to 16 inches tall; stem usually branched from near the base, ascending, freely rebranched, above the middle; branches slightly ascending or horizontally spreading, green, sharp spinescent; spines reddish; leaves flat, horizontal or ascending, membranous, shining green above, paler green beneath; calyx greenish; petals pure white; filaments and pistil (except the green ovaries) whitish, anthers creamy white.
