Habitat
Upland depression pond on sandstone substrate. Primarily open with dense emergent, herbaceous vegetation, small ring of shrubs and forested outer margin. Growing with Eleocharis quadrangulata, Juncus repens, Utricularia sp., Panicum verrucosum, Carex sp., Triadenum walteri, Panicum rigidulum, Diospyros virginiana, Cephalanthus occidentalis, Liquidambar styraciflua, etc.

Hundreds of thousands of culms, the dominant emergent vegetation over approximately a third of an acre. Plants rhizomatous.
