  • Description

    Shrubs, stems usually few from the same root cluster, ascending, terete, 3 inches thick, branched from the middle; main branches widely spreading, rebranched, the ultimate ones usually somewhat drooping over the river bed; wood very soft, porous, maple white without odor or taste; bark grayish white, smooth, green beneath the epidermis, the inner portion whitish, branchlets spreading, ultimately suberect. usually with blunt species, leaflets ascending, flat, membranous, subglaucous green beneath; inflorescence suberect, the main stalks brownish, the pedicels and calyx pale green, the central floral organs creamy white but with age melleous, slightly fragrant.
