  • Description

    Exoperidium thin, orange-white Pl 5A2 Methuen, separating from purplish-brown endoperidium which is parchment-like. Depressed globose, 3-3.5 cm high with a wad of mud & mycelium ay base. Gleba brown 7E6. Exoperidium sometimes aerolate. Capillitium branched, brownish-red Pl 10D8 in KOH; up to 15 microns thick. Spores: oval, 4.5-6 microns with pedicels 12 microns long, ends tapered. Hyaline envelope surround spore. The odor of B. plumbea dried is not as objectionable as that of B. leucoderma. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
