Description
Tree 60 feet high or higher, stem 2 1/2 feet thick, not straight, round; wood hard, odorless and tasteless, sapwood whitish the central portion reddish, bark thin or comparatively so, reddish beneath the yellowish gray epidermis, rigid and hard, smooth or scaling in thin plates; limbes gray, mainly at the top and forming a flattish rather congested crown; twigs ascending tough and quite rigid; coriaceous leaves recurved, strongly conduplicate on the upper deeper green surface, sublucid on both sides; infrutescence terminal or upon leafless twigs, oblong, 1 inch long, 1/2 inch across, terete, subpendulous, pale yellow and turning to a deep wine color, hard.
