FLORA OF TANZANIA Lis Ellemann 327 Ximenia americana L. Olacaceae Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Nasiporiong', Savanna woodland, treecover dominated by Acacia hockii. Burned in September 1992. Information by Peter Metele and Lekura Metele, Irmakaa-age group, Nasiporiong'. (35° 12' E 3° 12’ S). Alt. 1800 m. Apr 13, 1993 Tree 2 m high. Maasai name: engammai (small) alammai (big). Use: roots are boid to a red decoction, which is mixed with milk to make the milk go further. The red fruits are eaten by particularly herd boys, as a substitute for lunch.
