var. japónica
Henan Province, Neixiang Xian: Baotianman Nature Reserve,
Xiaohongsi River. 33°24’N; 1I1°53’E. Thickets along stream
below 1100 m and primary forest from 1400-1600 m.
Dominant forest trees: Sinowilsonia, Zelkova, Juglans,
Quercus, Acer (3 or 4 spp.), Dipteronia, Prunus, Diospyros on
steep slopes above boulder-strewn stream bed. Scattered in
forest at ca. 1400 m. Growing with Hylomecon japónica var.
dissecta, and in about equal numbers.
