Edge of forest, small tree 3 m tall in partial
shade; petals green outside, deep violet within
anthers violet and white, fruit becoming orange
with green calyx.
Forested stream edge and cleared slopes below the Methodist Rural
Center, Quebrada Marin. About 7 km. east of Ciudad Quesada, Prov.
Alajuela. 10° 22' N. x 84° 24' W. 500 m. altitude.
