Herbarium of the University of Aarhus, Denmark (AAU) FLORA OF TANZANIA Lis Ellemann 476 Moraceae Ficus ingens Miq. ARUSHA. Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Kelogi. A small rocky hill with scattered trees surrounded with grass savanna, clasifien as lowland, "olpurkol" by the Maasai. Informatin given by Kidami Metele, irmakaa-agegroup and Lepilal Ole Nakuroi, irking'onde-agegroup. (35° 17' E 3° 2' S). Alt. 1550 m. May 03, 1993 Tree, fruits green. Maasai name: osukunwa Four 15 x 8 cm big pieces of bark are boiled and mixed with meat soup to dissolve fat. It doesn't have any medicinal effect and isn't used at meatcamp. The decoction has a red-brown colour and is a bit bitter. The portion suits for 10 persons. It can be used solely (quantity stated above is for sole use) or mixed with other species, and the soup can be eaten by everybody. 9 I / AfY2* 04738199
