tree in compact well drained soil of ehruberries bordering
grassy glens at §00 feet; stem 16 feet high, 6 inches thick;
branches divaricate, from below the middle, slender, rebranched;
wood soft, yellowish, with neither odor nor taste; bark smooth,
dark brown or blotched with gray; leaves ooriacearns or sub-
ohartaoeous, tips only r«carved, flat, ascending or horizontal,
shiny deep green above, subglauo©scent green beneath;
infrutesccncein small clusters along the branchiate, subglobose,
or a trifle thicker above the middle, less than l/g inch thick,
