By: Field Char: Canopy tree with broad crown; sclerophyllous, leaves glossy dark gm above, blue-gm below; thin bark with red inner surface, peeling easily in large sheets; veg. parts with strong cinnamon fragrance. Notes: Perianth with 7 lobes, cream-white. A common species of the alluvial zone, pop. in early flower. Locality: East Sepik province; forest along the main streamcourse of the Sitipa river; near the village of Gahom. Habitat: Tall-statured lowland forest with open understory, substrate of fine gravel and silt. 100 m, 4°39’S X 142°44’E W.
