    Small erect tree in black fertile soil of woods at 25 feet altitude;, stem 6 Inches thick or twice as thick, 20 to 30 feet high|; main branches from below the middle, ascending, ultimately numerously and crookedly rebranched; wood very soft and coarsely fibrous, dingy yellowish white throughout, odorless, nearly tasteless; bark yellowish gray mottled, smooth, thin;, twigs soft, the younger ones greenish; leaves heavy, ascending, leathery, lucid on the upper more or less folded surface, paler beneath; inflorescence erect, pale green including the calyx bud angular and yellowish, the upper side of, the 5 segments white; filaments, style with a brush-like stigma white, anthers grayish brown or nearly black; flowers, rather rigid, early falling, sweetly fragrant; young fruits, dull yellowish green, erect tubular, thickened at the apex; "Annuling".
