Dense, but grazed aspen(Populus-
Betula) grove near bottom of snail
valley, in semi-shade, very common.
Heavy-rooted herb, the caudex some-
times branched, to 50cm long,5cm diam.
with 1-6 stems each, each with 1 frt.
usually with 5 carpels. Also in cool
P moist Abies sibirica-Picea woods.
Secondary Betula pendula—-Pinus sylvestris
woods, with Paeonia anomala, Lonicera ta -
tarica.
b) Salix thickets on stream (Hypericum
hirsutum, Poa remota, Festuca gigantea,
