cotton soils, and other heavy clays.

Perennial grass growing in tussocks, up
to 1.2m tall;usually shorter due to graz-
ing. Main grass in area; coarse and less
prefered by cattle & game. Stems branch
much. Leaf: sheath redgreen at base;lig-
ula membraneous; blades not folded,but
twisted,both sides covered with hairs-
greygreen colour. Spikelet has some red-
