large exposed metabasalt outcrop and cliff talus, with hardwoods (Quercus rubra dominant, Betula alleghaniensis, B. lenta, Carya), scattered Abies balsamea, understory of Ilex montana, Acer pensylvanicum, Hamamelis and occasional thickets of Kalmia, Vaccinium and stunted Q. rubra. on mossy meta-basalt boulder in forest.
