carpellate scales longer than perigynia; spikelet 5-7 mm long x 3-4
mm wide; bract at base of spike 17 mm long; in association with
Rubus hispidus, Prunella vulgaris, Carex swanii, C. debilis, Holcus
lanatus, Rhododendron viscosum, Viburnum dentatum var.
venosum, Ilex verticillata, Vaccinium corymbosum, Sisyrinchium
sp., ScAthyrium angustum.
