    Quite rigid shrubs, erect and numerously fastigiately branched; wood quite hard and closely grained; bark grey, thin checked; leaves smooth, ascending, yellowish green beneath; flowers deciduous, pendulous, blood red; capsules recurved; stunted forms on gravely landslides near summit of Santo Thomas; rigid shrubs 3 meters high at the summit.
