Rhododendron nivale J. D. Hooker subsp. nivale
Xizang (Tibet) Province, Bianba Xian: First pass from the city of
Bianba (Banbar) to Luolong (Lhorong) on highway 303.
30°45'40"N, 94°58'46"E; 4400-4440 m. Mixed shrub community
with tall (> 1.5 m) Rhododendron aganniphum, Salix, Sibiraea,
Spiraea, Potentilla fruticosa and Caragana jubata. Slopes, around
boulders. Shrubs ca. 0.5-2 m tall; calyx lobes ca. 2.25 mm long,
scaly; corolla pale to dark purple. DNA material available.
