SIERRA NEVADA, CARSON RANGE: Jacks Valley Wildlife Management Area, along
lower Clear Creek Trail just above (north of) Jacks Valley Road, Carson Valley watershed.
Locally dominant. Decomposed granite gravel and sand sloping 10-20° SSE, with Artemisia
tridentata, Purshia tridentata, Prunus andersonii, Ephedra viridis, Chrysothamnus
viscidiflorus viscidiflorus, Eriogonum elatum, Greeneocharis circumscissa, Mentzelia
albicaulis, Phacelia curvipes, Erodium cicutarium, etc. Shrubs 1-2 m in flower & bud, petals
cream. Local P. tridentata in early fruit, no hybrids seen.
