VIRGINIA RANGE: Terraces above east side of Washoe Valley south of Jumbo Grade,
Washoe Valley watershed. Locally abundant, thousands of plants. Sandy granitic alluvial and
aeolian soil sloping 5°WNW, with Artemisia tridentata, Purshia tridentata, Prunus andersonii,
Ephedra viridis, Greeneocharis circumscissa, Camissonia contorta, Mentzelia albicaulis, Gilia
modocertsis, Descurainia pinnata, Erodium cicutarium, Sisymbrium altissimum, Layia
glandulosa, Ribes velutinum, Draba verna, Gayophytum dijfusum, Amelanchier utahensis, etc.
Annuals, corollas deep yellow with blood red spot and markings.
