    Small tree, 5 meters or more high; branches spreading, numerous, the ultimate slender and half drooping; bark rather smooth, conspicuously grayish white; wood moderately soft, reddish toward the heart-wood; leaves spreading, flat, quite thin and easily breaking; midrib reddish beneath only; fruits along the branchlets, soft, snow-berry white except the greenish central seed portion.
