PLANTS OF RUSSIA Rhododendron camtschaticum Pall. Ericaceae Kuril Archipelago: Rasshua, inland from southwest section of island near the Arches; above top of initial steep slope from coast and along the gradual slope beyond to the peak of ridge. Pinus pumila and Alnus sp. as the dominant vegetation with an extensive low cover of ericads (Vaccinium, Rhododendron), Empetrum or grasses and tall forbs (Filipendula, Cirsium). 47°43’1 N 152°58'23 E Elev. 150 m Corollas deep magenta, with linear markings on upper three lobes, five short stamens, five long curved ones, leaves bright green, most flowers past.
