diameter, blown over during strong winds.
Same tree collected on 30 June 2009, as D. Atha
7663 (NY).
Voucher for wood specimen, MADw.
Very few acorns produced anywhere in the crown. The
number of twigs with male inflorescences apparently in or
near anthesis was just as large. The amount of fringing on
the acorn cup is variable even though all taken from the
same tree; some cups with essentially no fringing. The
petioles are distinctly yellow. Some characters indicate this
may be a hybrid with Q. alba L.
