Papua New Guinea. Gulf Province: Kikori.
Growing right outside of the Delta Lodge, located next to the Milne
Bay Airport Terminal. 144° 15’ E, 7° 30’S.
Tree ~10m, dbh ~12cm. Leaves, alternate, distichous, but a few
leaves are opposite, veins pubescent below. Annulate stipule scars.
Fruits, (3 cm x 2xm), reddish when ripe, cauliflorous, small bracts
subtending each fruit. (3 bracts per fruit). Fruit exudes clear sticky
latex when cut. In longitudinal section, three layers of colors are
revealed: whitish yellow on the oustide, then red, and white flowers
on the inside. White sticky latex exudes from cut twigs or leaves.
