Distribution
The New York Botanical Garden Moraceae Ficus sp. Det. N.C. Zerega, 2000 Papua New Guinea. Gulf Province: On the Kikori River between Kikori and Kopi. 144° 15’ E, 7° 30’ S. Tree ~10m hanging over the river. Another nearby tree of the same species ~25m. May be a strangler fig, but no aerial roots were apparent. Leaves, glabrous, secondary veins parallel, margins entire Leaves spirally arranged and clustered at tips. Annulate stipule scars Fruits, 5cm x 4cm, axillary, green, hard, smooth, immature, exude white latex when cut. Flowers inside the syconium crean colored Seeds black. White latex throughout. N.C.
