Flora of Montauk Suffolk County, New York CUPRESSACEAE Juniperus conferta Pari. United States of America. New York: Suffolk County. East Hampton Town, hamlet of Montauk, south side of South Emerson Avenue, in sandy back-dunes. (41.03083N 071.95011W). Shrub; evergreen; spread 8.2 m x 7.6 m, female cones olive green with bluish waxy blush. Growing in association with Morelia pensylvanica, Pinus thunbergii, Solidago sempervirens, Juniperus virginiana, Ilex opaca and Rosa rugosa. *Note, in vicinity there are 10 plants in a -one mile stretch of back- dunes, represented by specimens 1864-1872.
