Habitat
Associated locally with Purshia glandulosa and Encelia virginensis actoni. Scattered in coarser, rockier alluvium.

Description
shrub, to 60 cm tall. Low shrub to ca. 6 dm. tall, branches erect to sprawling; stems blue-green; leaves 2 per node; peduncles 1-3 per "axil"; fruiting bracts usually bear 2 seeds. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
