Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 22 km along the road which connects the city of Rio Branco to the city of Porto Velho, BR-364, in Acre, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the road which connects the two cities, BR-364. Beginning at BR-364 at the approximate geographic center of the city of Rio Branco (junction of BR-364 and Estrada da Floresta), used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 22 km (22.0001 km) along the road toward Porto Velho. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the offset along the road. Used the Distance Measurement Tool again to find the approximate linear extent of the starting location, Rio Branco, by measuring from the geographic center of the city to the farthest extent of the city (spatial boundaries provided by Google Maps). Input coordinates, linear extent (9.48274 km), measurement error (0.0005 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
