  • Description

    A rather slender tree; stem terete, 1 foot thick, 35 feet high, chiefly branched at the top; wood soft, odorless and tasteless, light, yellowish especially the outer one half; bark checked or smooth, thick, castaneous except the epidermis, with latex; branchlets few, thick ascendingly curved, 1 inch thick, ringed and marked with left scars; leaves ascending or horizontal, the segments recurved, otherwise nearly flat, chartaceous, veins yellowish, all equally sinnate, paler green beneath; the yellowish bracts hairy as is also the green portion of the twigs; peduncles from the uppermost leaf axils, 2 inches long and recurved; yellowish; heads rugose or irregularly globose in outline, 3 to 5 inches across, nearly citrinous yellow;.
